Allama Iqbal Open University Postpones Examinations of Spring Semester 2020
Allama Iqbal Open University has postponed the examinations for spring semester 2020 from 26th November. The decision to postpone the exams was taken in the meeting chaired by the Vice-chancellor of AIOU, Professor Dr. Zia Ul Qayyum on Monday. Previously the examination schedule was issued to conduct the exams of the various degree programs but the second wave of the pandemic has disturbed the educational and examinational activities. It was also decided that all the workshops as well as the classes would be commenced online for the autumn semester of 2020.
The Announcement by University Officials
AIOU issued the notification after the decision of the federal education minister, Shafqat Mahmood to close the educational institutes across the country. From tomorrow the institutes including the schools, colleges, universities and the tuition centers will remain closed till 10th January and the students will learn from home. In the first week of January, a review session will be held to discuss and monitor the situation of the coronavirus to reopen the institutes across the country. Moreover, the professional exams will be held as per the provided schedule while all the other exams will be rescheduled after 15th January by considering the situation.
Revised Schedule of Exams
The AIOU vice-chancellor declared that the decision will not be applied to the online examinations of the overseas students. He said that the university will follow the instructions provided by the government and also directed the implementation of the COVID-19 standard operating procedures. The number of visiting faculty of the university would also be curtailed to control the spread of the pandemic. Till now the university officials have not announced the revised schedule of the postponed examinations but it will be declared soon according to the government directives.
